Carouse Contemporary Kitchen & Bar Review

Carouse is one of the luxury restaurants in town. Some USPs of this place are as follows:
- Very spacious.
- Plush, huge velvet sofas as well as table seating.
- VIP lounge seating for celebrities and outdoor seating as well.
- A stage for live entertainment purposes.
- Entrance consists of LED tubes which also doubles up as a great place to click selfies

After all this things you foodies must have come to know that the ambience is just wow.

Now coming to food what we had there:

1. Bread Basket: A foreign trend followed by this place. Served as a complimentary dish on all tables, this one has a basket of different types of bread along with with delicious fat spreads.

2. Courgette & Basil Soup: It came in 2 different spoons for us. Now this wasn't a a normal soup served in a bowl. It was served in 2 different spoons as u can see in the image. It had Olive Tapenade & Courgette Fritters. They call it the bubble soup. It was very unique dish and taste was also very good. The bubble bursts in your mouth and releases the soup inside. It is a fun and very innovative dish that you can try out.

3. Korean Chicken Satay: We had chicken satay many times, but we had Korean one for the first time. It was very yummy. It had roasted sesame seeds on top which gave a minuscule crunchy texture to the deliciously succulent chicken sticks.

4. Citrus & Chilly Rawas: Rawas is a famous and very soft fleshed fish. The starter was amazing and the fish still held its form, which means it was cooked to perfection. It was spicy and tangy and combination of both was just tantalising.

5. Mango Pickle & Cream Cheese Spiked Chicken Tikka: It wasn't a normal chicken tikka. It was marinated mango pickle and cheese. Mango Pickle sounds a bit bizzare to be present in something like chicken tikka, but the amount of tangy punch it gave to the starter was its USP! We loved this one as well!

6. Kasuri Methi Chicken Tikka: Now this one was marinated with kasuri methi. It was also yummy but not as tasty as mango pickle and cream cheese spiked chicken tikka. The flavours on this starter are very familiar, so it would be a safe dish to try if you are visiting here for the first time and you are confused on what to order.

7. Tandoor grilled Sichuan Peppercorn prawns: This one was okay as it was little bit bland. Prawns were grilled on the tandoor. But prawns didn't had much flavour to it.

8. Baked Asparagus & Gruyere Cheese Samosa: Now these samosa were finger-licking good! It wasn't much oily and heavy like usual samosas are. The fillings in samosa was delicious. The green chutney served with these samosas  was a perfect combination to go with the dish.

9. Chimichuri Corn Tempura:  This is basically batter fried corn. We've had fried corn tossed in spices before, but the flavour of chimichuri with the corn tempura was mind blowing. The amalgamation of Argentina and Japan (chimichuri and tempura) was so obvious but to come up with this dish was brilliant!

10. Beetroot Onion Relish & Feta Cheese Tart: Tart is an open pastry case containing fillings in it. Usually the tart fillings are sweet and put it in the dessert category, but we were having it for the first time in savoury category. It looked good but it didn't taste good. We found it out to be bland. The pastry was yummy, but the onions and beetroot provided a sweetness that was pointless.

11. Pan Seared duck breast with fig compote: This dish had a duck breast, fig and rice. We did not like anything in this dish. We tasted the meat of duck for the time but like the taste of duck's meat. The meat was stiff and kind of hard to cut into. We didn't relish this dish unfortunately!

12. Fenugreek Pesto Rubbed Grilled chicken with Achari jus: Boneless slices of chicken were served having Achari taste in it. We were able to make out the taste of achar but we didn't like it that much. The flavour was mostly concentrated on the outside of the huge chicken pieces, but the insides were pretty basic.

13. Chocolate Freakshake: This freakshake was awesome. Normally we don't like freakshakes but we loved this one. The roasted marshmallows and kitkat were cherry on top of the cake. We highly recommend this dish!

14. Hazelnut Mousse: The presentation was awesome. The mousse was filled in a chocolate cylinder. The chocolate was made up on very dark cacao and the mousse had perfect hazelnut flavour. But we expected the mousse to have a smooth texture. This had a slightly gritty and sand-like texture that was a buzz kill for us.

15. Jump & Kiss Me, Mr. Smart: These two mocktails were very delicious, fresh and tasted like heaven! They weren't overly sweet and they tasted like the real deal. Not one sip felt like it was made with powder and water. Both of the mocktails are highly recommended by us if you are a teetotaler like us. Or even if you drink, these are awesome!

16. Spicy Thought: A lot is going on in this mocktail. While we loved the spicy notes in this drink, we would've better preferred if this drink was strain. The little pieces of the condiments were coming up by the straw which was overwhelming us. It is a very interesting drink though, but it just needs to be strained to get away from the teeny bits and pieces of the strong condiments.

Ambience: 5/5
Food: 4 / 5
Service: 4.5 / 5 [Huge shoutout to our server Chetan for being so polite and friendly! He made sure we were having a gala time here! Thanks buddy!]
