Hello foodies!! Today, we the 2foodfreaks are bringing you a review of restaurant that has stunning interiors and mind blowing ambience.

If you guys are searching for a buffet place that is pocket friendly and also has vibrant interiors then your search ends here! Today we are covering ‘Taste of Punjab’ that not only serves Punjabi food but also has Punjabi vibes going on in this restaurant.

What we loved about this place is the desi vibes it oozes. Right from the entrance, you get the traditional Punjabi atmosphere. There is a stage where women sit and sing traditional Punjabi songs along with a person who plays Dhol. Sometimes, men in colourful traditional clothes do Bhangda on this stage.

The place is extremely colourful and vibrant as you all can see in the pictures. The chairs are super grand and give a royal feeling. There are little Indian version of chandeliers. There’s also a truck-like deck where a DJ pumps out Punjabi upbeat songs.

There is another section where there is a table that moves back and forth and you can sit there and eat. The small details like little sculptures of punjabi people doing daily chores placed here and there just adds more richness and shows the rich culture of this Religion.

Just trust us and visit this place to actually get the true feeling of what we are trying to describe! You will thank us later!

This place serves buffet as we told you earlier. As usual, the buffet had a lot of variety in each category, be it starters, main course or desserts.

Starters:

There was a salad counter, an array of chutneys, raita, curd, papad, pickles etc. too. But we didn't waste our time there! Hihi.

1.     Palak ka Shorba: This was a delicious and spicy Palak soup. The consistency was watery thin. We liked the light consistency because it didn’t fill our tummies at the beginning and hence we could enjoy the huge spread.

2.     Chicken ka Shorba: This looks like Tomato soup, but actually was Chicken soup. This again had the same watery consistency. The soup had tantalizing flavours and we loved it!

3.     Aloo Mushroom Tikki: It was a small, coin sized tikki or we can say small veg kebab. It had mushroom and potato in it. It was very tasty and light to eat.

4.     Pahadi Chicken & Chicken Tikka: Both were boneless pieces of chicken one in green and one in red. Green one was pahadi chicken and red one was chicken tikka. These starters are the most common starters in restaurants serving buffet. So it had to be good and it was good.

5.     Chicken Wings: These were tiny chicken wings coated with masala. It was soft and juicy. The wings were delectable as well!

6.     Peshawari Fish: We both got excited for this starter because we had tasted Peshawari chicken but never heard of Peshawari fish. The taste of the Peshawari fish was very delicious. The fish however wasn’t as soft as we expected.

7.     Mutton Seekh: Mutton Seekh was okay. It didn’t taste that good. The taste of mutton seekh was bland. The Chef should work on getting the seekh improvised as it is one of the best starters which all the foodies love to have.

8.     Paneer Tikka: This again is a common starter. The Paneer Tikka was yummy but there is some room for improvement here too.

Main Course:

As we mentioned, there was a huge spread of gravies for the main course. The main course included: Mutter Paneer, Sarso Da Saag, Chole, Punjabi Kadi, Hare Moong ki Daal, Peas Pulav, Murg Achaari, Mutton Tariwala, Fish Curry etc.

These tasted good, but not excellent. The lack of the extra something is easily compromised by the brilliant ambiance though!

They also had Veg biryani and Raan Biryani. Now obviously we went for the Raan Biryani. 

Raan is the leg of the goat i.e. the flesh of goat's thigh. It is far much tastier than chicken thigh. Now coming to the Raan Biryani, it was just mind blowing! This biryani was the highlight of this place and easily the best dish among all the dishes served here! Do ask for Raan Biryani if you visit Taste of Punjab!

Chaat Counter:

As you enter the place, there is a chaatwala that serves lip smacking chaat like sev puri, pani puri, dahi puri etc.

Now we must say that pani puri lovers should not at all miss their pani puri at all as they are the best! The puris are extremely crunchy and the pani is just too good! The sev puri was also delicious but pani puri stole the show!

Desserts:

They had a few desserts on the counter plus kulfi which had to be ordered. The desserts included Jalebi, Rabdi, Dudhi ka Halwa, Phirni, Gulab Jamun and Masala Milk.

The desserts weren’t too sweet which is good. The gulab Jamuns melted in your mouth and so was the Halwa! The phirni was a little bland though. The masala milk was super cold and hence we didn’t like it. The jalebi and rabdi combination was bomb but not tooth hurting sweet!

Overall, the place is just too awesome to go and have a lavish buffet with your family or friends. The ambiance as you can already see in the pictures is so lively and brings the true essence and spirit of Punjab.
