Guru Kripa, Sion

Guru Kripa

Hello dear foodies!

This week we’re going to cover another famous place that is all over Zomato. Situated near SIES College, Sion, this place is fairly easy to find with its huge red board and the crowd waiting to go inside for some food.
Preparation of Ghevar
Also, since it was Holi time when we visited, the place seemed bursting with so many employees making and packing sweets. There was a huge line when we went so it took about 10 minutes for us to get a seat, story of every cult eatery in Mumbai!
Delicious and Fresh Sweets 😍

The place smelled delicious what with all the sweets being prepared in front of us, the lovely Gujiyas that were just taken out of sugar syrup! Ah! How we wish we ate some of it as well! Anyway, getting back to the review, this place too, like many others is a no fuss, order-eat-pay and go kind of a restaurant. The order is brought in quickly and is piping hot and super fresh!
Freshly Made Gujiyas!

Yummy Ghevar!

We ordered:

1.   Samosa Chole: This dish is talked about so much on Zomato that we had to try it. The Samosa was awesome and this combination with chole and sweet tamarind chutney, it was unbeatable! This combination is unique in its own and super delicious! The samosas were very fresh and crispy. The filling was good and the shape was exactly a triangle, quite different from the usual samosas we get. We loved it so much that we called in for another plate of samosas!

Samosa Chole.. Unique Combination!

2.   Veg Cheese Grilled Sandwich: This surely reminded us of ghar ka sandwich! It was just too good and we loved that it had three layers instead of two. This is such a wholesome and a filling sandwich! It had nice amount of veggies and cheese. Nothing fancy but this is the real deal! Loved it! It comes with ketchup and green chutney mixed.

Such a delicious and wholesome sandwich!

3.   Gulab Jamun: With all the employees busy making and packing sweets for Holi, it woke up the sweet tooth in us. So we ordered this. The gulab Jamuns were awesome! A little too sweet, but so good! They also have a pistachio in the center of the gulab jamuns, which is a nice surprise. Their gulab jamuns hole the shape so very well and are pillowy soft!

Pillowy Soft.. Sugar rush!

4.   Kulfi Falooda: Here comes a dud. This was the last dish we ordered and the waiter said it would take 10 minutes to come, but it arrived within 5 minutes. It wasn’t the best kulfi or the ice cream or the falooda that we tried. For 90 bucks, this sure can be skipped. We liked it but did not love it! It was plainly okay!

It was Average :(

Overall, we loved visiting this place because for the price, the food was good. The service was super quick. We liked the place enough to come visit next time too, which is a good thing.

Food: 4 / 5
Ambience: 2.5 / 5
VFM: 4.5 / 5
Service: 5 / 5

We’d recommend everything we tried except Kulfi Falooda!

Bon Appetit!
