Grain & Bagel, Juhu

The grass wall with Grain & Bagel’s logo.. It lights up in the evening and looks awesome!

Hello Foodies!

How are you all doing? We’re back with a lovely Hangout place for you all. We’re talking about Grain & Bagel which is located in Juhu. We got an invite to try out their new menu, and who doesn’t get excited on trying out new menu right?
Newly launched menu gets us so excited!
This place is super easy to locate as it stands on the main road. The first thing you notice once you reach this place is the cute little colourful umbrellas that provide you shade in the scorching sun. It also looks very cute and it’s something different! There’s also a fake grass wall that has the name of the café written on it in white. It looks nice!
Such cute interiors make for an amazing Insta shot! 📷💛
Although the cafe is really tiny, it’s a cool hangout place, hence the name! They have free Wi-Fi, colourful chairs and a good menu. The 400-square-foot space also includes wooden tables with colorful metal chairs, green grass coated walls which have funky paintings hung on the wall.
How cute is this pun frame! 😍👌

We hogged up a lot here, no kidding! Let’s see what all we ate!

1.   Hummus with Toasted Pita: This was the first dish we ordered because believe it or not, this was the first time we had hummus! The pita was cut into little triangles and it was a bit dry, maybe because it was toasted without any oil or butter. The hummus was creamy and it has a bit of texture but it was bland. It was slightly bitter and tangy, like it had a dash of lemon juice in it. It was a nice starter for the one’s watching weight.

The white against the black looks nice!

2.   Horseradish Mayo Fries: Remember we told you once that we like to try something different once in a while? Yeah, we did it again. We ordered this, not knowing what Horseradish was! Silly us! These fries were good though. The fries were served in a tall green glass. One thing we noticed was the fries were too long. They had the horseradish sauce and mayo smeared all over the fries, but not too much. We could clearly taste the pungent radish flavor in the fries. That little taste was a bit offbeat with the mayo.

3.   Asian Spiced Cottage Cheese & Green Capsicum Bagel: Uff! Such a long name. We were confused as to which bagel to order, so we told Rehmat, our host for the evening,  to bring the best one. He bought this and we loved the filling of the bagel. There were lots of paneer cubes in there, no complain with the amount of filling. The bagel was a bit tough though. But it had lots of cheese on top of it, that too grilled which tasted awesome!

We never knew Veg food can taste this good!

What a beauty!

4.   The Bagel Sandwich: This is like a Do-It-Yourself bagel where in you select the bagel, spreads, vegetables and sauces. Again we left our order to Rehmat and we chose this one for us- Olive and Basil Bagel with Jalapeno & Sundried tomatoes spread, all vegetables except tomatoes (Because we told him to skip it) , Plain mayo & Escalope paprika sauce. We could hardly taste the paprika or the Jalapeno & Sundried tomato spread. All we could taste is the veggies. The bagel was tough, hard and chewy. We wouldn’t recommend this one to you because the tough bagel stole the thunder! (‘Friends’ reference- oh yes!)

We love how nice the presentation of this dish is!

5.   Sobo Cheese Chilly Maggi: You guys! You have to try this one out! We don’t know what they add in their maggi, but it is just so creamy and thick and delicious! Totally a comfort food, and we will pick this over Mac & Cheese, anytime! The green chillies added the hotness required to cut the cheesy and creaminess of the dish. We loved it and couldn’t have enough of it!

Look at all the creaminess! 😍😍🍜

So cheesy and sooooo good! 🍜🍴

6.   Chocolate Truffle: We ordered a couple of shakes to wash down all the food. We expected thick shakes but these were surprisingly very light. The mocktail or so they say, was like flavoured milk. It lacked the chocolate flavor, but was cool and light on the stomach, perfect for summers!

Shakes in mason Jars get full marks from us!

7.   Mint Chocolate Mocktail: We had initially ordered for Blueberry cheesecake one, but since they did not have it, Rehmat brought us this one. It was really refreshing. We love the combination of chocolate and mint, so we had to like it. These shakes are super light, not at all heavy and perfect to cool down a bit!

Chocolate with a hint of mint.. Perfect combination!

Overall, Rehmat was a very polite host. He was calm and cool, understanding and such a nice person. When we asked him about the bagels being tough, he calmly answered us and showed the bagels that they carry. We really like the interiors of this café and would surely come back for that yummy maggi!

Juhu residents get 49 % off on their order if they carry a valid address proof, which is awesome! How we wish we resided in Juhu!
