Munch, Mahim

Hello dear foodies!

This is our second review of 2017 and we couldn’t be happier to visit a place like Munch! There’s a tiny story behind it, so grab something because this post is full of drool worthy pictures!

Okay so what happened is we were trying to make a list of places that we wanted to try out for our blog, so we kept scrolling and adding some really interesting places to our Zomato bookmarks. We found this place and we were too excited to try some Kickass fast food at good rates, so we added this place too in our bookmarks. Little did we know that literally within an hour, Ashlyn (Brainchild behind Munch) invites us to try out their specials. Now that definitely made our day! 💃
This frame is everything!!

Munch is situated in the by lanes of Mahim near Sitla Devi Temple. It is easy to locate because of the huge banner. It is a very small yet nicely done place that gives you those chilled out and relaxed weekend vibes. There are a few really cool picture-worthy posters on the walls. It has a tiny seating area that can accommodate three people but Ashlyn says on the weekends he adds additional chairs to occupy foodies. It’s mostly a takeaway place and we so wish we lived in Mahim!

As we told you we were invited to try out their specials, we had the following:
1.       Munch Wings: These wings had the best ever sauce that just made us forget everything and enjoy the food. The wings were coated with barbeque sauce but not the traditional one, mind you! Every dip here is tweaked to match the Indian palate and oh my! These dips are to die for! Ashlyn told us that they experimented a lot with the dips and came up with something that would complement the dish as well as suit the Indian taste! We totally loved this dish and can’t wait to come back for more. It was sweet, tangy, spicy, all at once yet you could taste them individually! Superb!

2.       Crunchy Chicken served with Peri Peri dip: Just when we thought we had the best, this was a pleasant surprise! It had no abundance of flavours like Munch Wings, but yet this dish was a star in itself! The crust was really crispy and the interior was nicely cooked. The best part about these is that they don’t have any bones in them. So you don’t struggle while eating them. Also, the peri peri dip was light but full of flavours. It is again not your regular peri peri dip. They have tweaked this one too!

3.       Mama Rosa Pasta: This is basically a cousin of the Arrabiata, but in our opinion a better, richer cousin. Hihi. The sauce was thick enough to coat the pasta well. It didn’t have that strong Tomato flavor. Just a subtle creamy tomato with cheese bits here and there sort of taste. It was mildly spicy and served with garlic bread. What a delight!

4.       Munch Feast: This was the best pizza we’ve eaten since Coco & Basil’s Ming Yang one. You have to check that review out as it’s got some really awesome stuff! Anyway, this is a real feast for your eyes as well as for your taste buds! The pizza is filled with toppings and cheese. There’s a thin crust but not too thin that holds up all the toppings really well. As you can see the toppings aren’t just limited to the center but it’s covered all over. The outer perimeter of the pizza is brushed with garlic butter and it tastes fantastic! You gotta try it to know what we are talking about.

Drool 😍

5.       The Hunger Burger: By this time we were almost full and suddenly Ashlyn comes and sets this place of heavenly deliciousness in front of us. We were amazed by the beauty of this burger. Just look how delicious it is! But in real life, it is surreal! There are layers of meats, veggies and pickles dripping in their ‘secret sauce’ and cheese. These are served with 9mm fries as compared to the traditional 6mm fries. We never knew how 3 mm could make any difference to fries but boy! It does! These fries are crispy and lightly salted and just a nice experience. This burger is a huge meal in itself and guys! We know how we were struggling to finish the burger and not leave anything on the plate because we’d regret it later when we’d be hungry. Please tell us you do the same! The struggle was real! The burger comes with a portion of the fries and coleslaw (Nice again).

Makes us hungry again!

😍😍😍😍

Overall, it was a Sunday well spent in really amazing company of us two and Ashlyn. He’s a genuinely nice person and a major foodie himself! We love it when the person behind a restaurant is just as interested in the food as any other major foodie.  When he talked to us about Munch, we could see how passionate he was about the place. We could totally relate it as we love blogging like crazy! Ashlyn told us that he observed all the restaurants and then he tried to make up for all the short comings of them. Like the 9mm fries or pizza covered with toppings entirely and not leaving a border of plain crust or chicken wings without bones. We can’t wait to go back for more as we really loved the time spent here!

Food: 5 / 5
Ambience: 3 / 5

Service: 5 / 5
We really loved everything we were offered and we’d recommend everything above! Seriously, this place is worth the hype and the 4.1 rating!

Bon Appetit!
