Big Burp Deli

After receiving the invite on a Friday night we were super excited to visit this new cafe in Vashi on the weekend. We decided to have an Uber from our place to avoid the hustle from the trains to reach the restaurant. Little did we know about the long traffic spicing up the drama to the journey! It took an extra minute for the Uber driver to end the seemingly never ending ride as he spotted the restaurant which rests along with other eateries in Manek Complex, Vashi. We were so famished by the time we reached here that we could have eaten a horse.

We had a warm welcome from Karishma, the manager who also gave a brief about their vision about the restaurant industry which we will talk about later in the blog and offered to serve the best dishes (in small portions) that they had in the menu. Until the food was served, we could not miss the creative ambience around us. The good old metal chairs in bright color seats, a tall book stand standing next to it for the book lovers, walls covered with creative posters by the BBD Team themselves and a dope black guitar for the music lovers, this place is a perfect hang out place for any young crowd any time of the day.The atmosphere will take out your stress in no time.

Now let's jump to the main thing - the Food.

Initially we were served with the Cheesy Jalapeno fries, Shredded paneer sandwich for the Vegetarian and Chicken Kheema Slider with a Half Fried Egg and a Sam's Special Sandwich from the Non-Veg section of the menu. Karishma enlightened us about the process the BBD follows to cook the fries. Primarily these are different from the hydrolysed fries that we generally get at the McDonalds, KFC, etc. Secondly they make use of fresh potatoes, hand cut and fried at a lower flame to add the sogginess and on a higher flame before serving to add that crispiness to them. And yes we felt the difference! They glided into our tummy easy and the Jalapenos added a spicy tinge to the taste.

The Shredded Paneer Sandwich is a must have and a safe pick because of its creamy and crumbly taste which is offered by the crispy brown bread toast. So no worries to those fitness freaks who have a hard time to find food and be satiated.

The Mum's special slider could be correctly called as a blend of the staple Vadapav with a refined McDonald’s patty. Again the hand mashed potatoes with the creamy taste from the chickpeas, the cabbage leaf and the spices with the freshness from the palm oil add crispiness to the patty differing it from any of its counterpart we get at the fast food centers.

Later we were offered the quintessential mocktail - the Lemon Soda and the creamy Hot chocolate. The Lemon Soda was on point. The Hot Chocolate with its white milk foam floating on the top with delectable hand crushed chocolate bars and cinnamon was thick, dark, creamy, banishing the winter chills.

Last but not the least, the food which you would not find anywhere in Navi Mumbai - the Churros. Those who do not know what Churros is - It is a fried dough in forms of sticks powdered with sugar. The Churros were delicious, crispy from outside, fluffy from inside and paired with the Nutella made it more palatable. As we were so full, after a while we could not forget the cafe's name and found it doing justice - Big 'Burrrp' Deli.

So as we mentioned earlier that the BBD team has a bigger picture envisioned for the Indian Restaurant Industry, the manager and the chef both are engineers from the city of New York pursuing their dream and passion - not just to provide quality food for the people but also provide a corporate outlook to the Hospitality industry. Both of them have had their share of struggles through life and are inspired to create employment opportunities to people irrespective of their caste, creed, gender, qualifications. Only prerequisite they are looking for are people who are skillful, be it at waiting on tables, hotel management, creative fields like wall painting, music, etc. Also, they do welcome people to conduct workshops at their place and engage with people involved in different walks of life. These are handful of people not just having a conventional Hotel Management mindset but with zeal to improvise the Indian Hotel and Hospitality Industry which touched our hearts and we wish them Best of Luck for their dreams.
