Pickle & Pint Restaurant Review
Pickle &
Pint earlier known as Destiny was known for its food, quality, taste and
service. The newly reimagined and relaunched Kitchen & Bar situated in the
brightly lit, popular locality of Andheri East is all set to take you on an
enticing culinary journey.
We were
invited to experience the amazing food and beverages here, so on a lovely
summery evening, we set to experience this wonderful place that we are about to
share with you.
Let’s see
what we ate that day!
Beverages:
1. Mango Bite: This is such a unique yet
delicious mango based mocktail. It is pale white in colour which is totally
unexpected as when you picture a mango based drink, you automatically imagine a
bright fiery yellow-orange mocktail. It is served with 90’s favorite candy
mango bite and presented in a beautiful flute glass. This drink is a must order
we believe! It tastes of a wonderful concoction of mango and litchi but overall
is so fantastic that it leaves you craving for more!
2. Thick Oreo Shake: This is probably
the best oreo shake we ever had! It actually tastes like liquid oreo! It is
decorated in a very pleasing way with oreos stuck on the glass. It is topped
with oodles of whipped cream. The shake is actually pretty thick and luscious!
Again, we were very impressed with the delectable taste of this oreo shake!
Starters:
This was the
course we were completely blown away by! If you ever decide to eat here, you
MUST try out these things! They were so delicious we just can’t!
1. Fish Koliwada: The softest fish
cooked to perfection! The meat was so soft it almost melted in our mouths, but
it held its shape so well! That’s what you call cooking with great finesse! It
was covered with green chutney which was so delicious!
2. Noorani Seekh: Finely minced chicken
seekh along with spinach and cheese proved to be so dang delectable! You wouldn’t
know that the seekh was made from chicken, but the other food freak being the
non-veg expert knew with the first bite that it was made from chicken and not
mutton! The spinach and cheese combination was totally drool worthy! Dip the
seekh in some green chutney and you are transported in food heaven!
3. Chicken Bao: The bao had a lot of filling in the bread. The filling was absoltely delicious! The presentation of this dish was amazing! We however felt that the chicken had way too much sauce in it, so afer 2-3 bites, the flavour was actually too much to handle. We conveyed this to the manager as well but we think it might be a one off thing.
4. Dimsums: The best dimsums we had in a long, long time! There were a mix of dimsums. There was a red one, which was coloured using beetroot juice. The black one was coloured using squid ink imported from China and is apparently super expensive! Our favorite was the veg one (green coloured). But all the dimsums were just too mouth-watering! A must order dish as well!
Main Course:
1. Daal Bukhara: This gravy of kali daal
was super rich, creamy, buttery and finger licking good! A perfect alternative
to the heavy paneer makhani or the likes! This one doesn’t feel so heavy and
leave an oily cast as an after-taste, which is so nice! Pair it up with one the
breads mentioned below, and you have a fantastic main course!
2. Murg Tariwala: This is the less
buttery version of butter chicken. The gravy is delicious but a tad bit sweet.
It has chuny chicken pieces. One good this about this gravy is that there is no
oil/ghee/butter floating on top and neither does water separate from the gravy!
These little things are so important which are often neglected!
3. Chura Paratha, Laccha Paratha, Roomali
Roti: The chura paratha comes enclosed like a flower bud and you have to separate
it like flower petals. It is actually very interesting. The lacha paratha was
made of wheat instead of maida. The roomali roti is the best companion to any
gravy!
Desserts:
1. White Forest Cake: We initially
ordered butterscotch cake but since they were out of it, we had white forest
instead. The cake was super moist, the cream was sweetened to perfection and
the white chocolate shavings added a lovely texture to this cake. It was the
best white forest cake we had! It even topped our favorite Merwans ka white
forest cake and that’s saying something!
2. Hot Chocolate Fudge Sundae: The
sundae comprised of chocolate bits, ice cream, pieces of biscuit and chocolate
sauce. We didn’t like the biscuit pieces in it as we felt it was adding a
crunchy texture to the otherwise creamy feeling of the dessert. But overall, it
was fantastic!
