Tanve's Kolkata Chaatt, Shastri Nagar, Andheri West
Hey foodies!
Hope you all are doing great! Thank you all for the amazing
response on our Boomerang that we posted last week! We’re going to do a
lot more Boomerangs from now on! Don’t miss out on the fun; follow us on Instagram for daily updates! Done with 2FoodFreaks promotion; now let’s get to
the review, hihi. Today’s review is on a chaat corner that opened up recently
in Shastri Nagar, Andheri West. They serve homemade and healthy chaat with flavors
from Kolkata. We’re talking Tanve’s Kolkata Chaatt.

They use jaggery to sweeten the chutneys instead of
sugar. They also use dates for their sweet chutneys. Only the puris for the
pani puri are sourced from outside. Be it the kachori for their Raj kachori
chaat, or the chutneys or spicy tangy pani for pani puris, everything here is
homemade and a healthier option of the regular roadside chaat. We love the
concept, and you must be wondering, usually healthy doesn’t mean extremely tasty.
But let us assure you that you’ll love their chaats just like the roadside
ones!
We got a couple of requests from our well-wishers to incorporate
clips and videos in our blog. You request and we delivered! So here is it-
Enjoy the clips and pictures! Hope you love them!
1.
Dahi
Papdi Chaat: This was our first chaat that we tried here
and what a hit it was! The sweet and the tangy and spicy flavors from the
chutney hit you right away as you take your first bite. They use ample of dahi
or yoghurt as you can see and they don’t add excess of water in the yoghurt
like other vendors do. It is just so tasty!

Pani
Puri/Gol Gappa/ Puchka: One dish, so many names but loved by
all. We can’t say no to Pani Puris can we? It is a crime to do so! They have
three different pots of pani- one is sweet, one is medium spicy and the other
one is very spicy. We tried one of each. The sweet one isn’t too sweet that you
choke on it. It is moderately sweet. The medium one is perfect for the ones who
like a mish mash of both sweet and spicy water. The third one doesn’t feel very
spicy until you almost finish it. That’s when the spicy flavor hits you. The
third one was our favorite but we liked all three of them to be very honest!

Jhaal
Mura: Now this one is basically a Kolkata twist to your
regular Bhel. They use mustard oil instead of the sweet chutney and there are
peanuts too. The dominating flavor here is the mustard oil which is strong. One
of us liked and the other one did not. The bhel was crispy and fresh. Their
ingredients are of really good quality!

Khasta
Kachori Chaat: Now this one is very similar to the Dahi
Papdi Chaat except this has a slight bit of mustard flavor to it. The kachori
is made in-house with sprouts filling inside the kachori. The dish is yummy and
full of flavor.

5.
Masala
Pepsi: This is basically pepsi with a lot of masalas added to
it. The name says it all. Again this can be a hit or a miss depending on your
taste buds. This one too got a 50-50 response from our side.

Our host was Mr. Sanjeev who was very humble and polite.
He told us a bit about the place and their plans for the future. He himself
prepares chaat when the demand is more which is nice. The place is small with
hardly 5-6 chairs. They should add more seating space as most of the people
have to stand and wait for their orders to turn up. The service is slightly
slow here and they should definitely improve on it. We saw people waiting for
15-20 minutes for their orders. Mr. Sanjeev told us that they are going to add
a lot more dishes on their menu soon and we can’t wait to go back for more.
Food: 3.5 / 5
Ambiance: None
Service: 3 / 5
VFM: 3 / 5
2FoodFreaks recommend Dahi Papdi Chaat and Pani Puris
for sure!
Bon Appetit!
