Ahmed Bhai's Bry & Dry, Nerul, Navi Mumbai
Ahmed Bhai's Bry & Dry |
Hello Foodies!
Today we will be reviewing “Ahmed Bhai’s Bry and Dry” -
one of the most popular non-veg serving restaurants in Nerul , Navi Mumbai. We
were planning to visit this place since a very long time (4 years) but finally
we visited this place on our convocation day! Yeah, our college was in Nerul,
yet we never visited it. And the day we are over and done with college we go
here. Life is funny, isn’t it?
Shamiana Style Seating |
The dirty curtains steals the charm out of this place. |
We were very excited to go there as we had heard a lot
about Ahmed Bhai’s starters, the ambience, the biryanis and a lot more.
When we entered the restaurant we found that the
Shamiana style seating looked very pleasant. But little did we know that on
closer inspection, we found the curtains of the Shamiana were very dirty. They
looked very filthy and bad with all the stains and everything. Just the sight
made us cringe. But we were hungry since morning, so we decided to order
quickly, eat and leave. It was about 7.30 pm when we finally sat down to have
our lunch. So yes, that’s how hungry we were!
Respect for all Religions. |
We also had to request for water 3 times and that’s when
we got it. The glasses weren’t washed properly and were gross, so we skipped
water and ordered Big Colas instead. Also, while we were ordering the food, the
waiter wasn’t noting the order down, so we told him to please note it down but
he didn’t listen. He said he will get our order correct. Haha, he did not!
Chicken Cheese kabab |
When our starters arrived, now instead of Chicken Cheese
kabab the waiter got Chicken Malai kabab and when we told him this wasn’t
what we ordered, he told us that it is not an issue and he will get it changed.
After sometime he brings the same starter with just cheese grated over it. We
tell him about it and he says that Chicken cheese kabab is prepared like that
only- we just add cheese over Malai kabab. The kabab was too sweet with sugar
and cheese. Good for people who have a sweet tooth, but not what we expected!

Next up was Mutton Seekh Kabab. This was a very
good starter, juicy and flavourful but usually seekh is served with green
chutney, but they brought the chutney when we were done with the seekh. What a
great timing (NOT!) If we ignore it, this dish is surely recommended!

Then came in the Chicken Crispy starter! The
chicken was super crispy and we enjoyed this too. It has lots of flavor and
crispy, juicy chicken, some vegetables coated with yummy sauce. It’s the safest
dish to order when in dilemma!

Since we were 4 of us and ravenous, and we did not want
to wait a lot for the biryanis to come up, we ordered a Shwarma for the
mean time. We had heard that they serve some awesome shawarmas here. We wonder
who spreads such rumors! This was a very bad shwarma. It had so much garlic flavor
to it. Mind you, we love garlic flavor but it was just too over the top. The
garlic was so overpowering that we could hardly taste anything else! It was a very
bad option.

Weird Taste.. Garlic Flavour was too over powering! |
Coming to the Biryanis:
We ordered Chicken Afghani biryani and Chicken
Leg Barra biryani. We decided on these two biryanis because we were bored of eating the
regular ones. Both tasted very good but both had almost the same taste with a
very minor difference. They even looked the same. You can see in the pictures
that they look exactly the same and we can’t really distinguish which is which!
There wasn’t any artificial color added to the rice of the biryani though. They
were so similar in taste that we couldn’t decide which one tasted better.

Overall, we loved some food, we hated some and we
disliked some. This was a very confusing place actually because the service
sucked big time, we were billed double for the worst shwarma ever, the Chicken
cheese kabab was a flop, but we really enjoyed the Seekh without chutney and
the two biryanis that tasted the same.
Ambience: 0/ 5
Food: 3 / 5
VFM: 3.5 / 5
Service: 1 / 5
We recommend the Biryani and the Seekh.
Bon Appetit!
